Information for Speakers

Two main components of the presentation are speech and slides.

Time for presentation: 30 minutes plus 10 minutes for questions and answers.

20-minute breaks between the presentations.
Language of reports: Russian.

It is important to identify and specify the subject matter and level of the audience which the presentation is designed for, this will help participants to choose the reports to visit.

The main audience of the conference is Russian-speaking, but as well, we expect participants who do not speak Russian, please consider this while preparing slides, so please:

  • Use the English language for slides;
Use more visual images (instead of text);
Use less text and code.

Recommended formats of presentation files: ppt, pptx, pdf.

The recommended aspect ratio of the slide is 16:10, this will allow you to optimally display the presentation on the screen and it is suitable for the publication.

All slides should be submitted not later than the 1st of September, but preferably in advance.

Pay attention!!! For presentations will be given a pattern that will be used by the sponsor logos according to the tariffs for the sponsors. Please, treating to this with understanding.If you use your own design, the logos of sponsors, organizers and the event itself you will need to place in accordance with our recommendations.

Do not make more than 50 slides for a 30 minute speech.

  • Use large and easily readable fonts.
Try to put not more than 5-6 lines of text on the slide. This will help to save large font and facilitate perception.

    If there is a lot of text, split it into several slides.
Highlight basic information on the slide.
Use images to improve the perception.
Make the text and background contrast, but do not use bright colors.
If your demonstration includes usage of the Internet please be prepared for an insufficient connection which may work not well.
    It is better to have a local version of the project or record video from the screen, for any case.
  • Keeping hands in pockets.

  • Too much gesticulating.
  • Not gesticulate at all.

  • Twiddling something in hands - it distracts the audience.
  • You should try to control the time to keep dynamics of your speech and keep within the time limits.

  • You should try not to read from paper or slides. Slides are supporting elements that should help you convey your thoughts to the people.
  • If something went wrong – do not be embarrassed. Try to make a joke out of it or simply ignore (giving no comments) the situation.
  • If people ask questions during your presentation and it disturbs you, try to postpone the answers to the end of the report.

  • If the question is appropriate and is intended to clarify the situation - you can answer it immediately.
  • You should not look at a single point or over the hall. Look at people in their eyes!
  • You should not answer questions that deviate from the topic.

  • You should not solve personal problems of the listeners during the speech - it is not interesting to other people.
  • Plan your presentation and highlight key points.

  • Print out the slides or the plan of the presentation and keep it in hands.
  • Train to narrate the presentation to someone or in front of the mirror.
  • Check whether the presentation fits within the time limit.

  • Communicate with the audience, it can help you to identify the most important moments for the audience.
  • Try to keep visual contact with the audience. But do not choose one person it can be stress making.
  • Be polite. Be gentle to people and do not forget to thank your listeners.
  • In case of difficulties with the equipment, ask the help team for help or even apply to the audience for assistance.
